Bangladesh is scheduled to play a pair of T20 Internationals against the United Arab Emirates later this month, as confirmed by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) on May 2. The matches are set to take place at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on May 17 and 19, both starting at 7:00 PM local time. After completing the UAE leg, the Bangladesh squad will head to Pakistan for a five-match T20I series.
This upcoming face-off marks the second time in three years that Bangladesh and UAE are meeting in a bilateral T20I series, with their last encounter occurring in Dubai back in September 2022.
“We’re delighted to welcome the Bangladesh Men’s team once again for a bilateral series,” said Subhan Ahmad, the COO of the Emirates Cricket Board. “Over the past few years, we've had the honor of hosting several ICC Full Members including New Zealand, West Indies, and Afghanistan. This upcoming series further cements our commitment to developing competitive opportunities for UAE cricket."
Ahmad emphasized the importance of these matches as preparation for the UAE team ahead of the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup later this year. He also expressed gratitude to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for their cooperation and highlighted Sharjah’s reputation as a stellar venue for T20 action.
From the Bangladesh camp, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury echoed similar sentiments, expressing enthusiasm for returning to the UAE. “These matches will help sharpen our preparations ahead of a packed international schedule, including the Asia Cup,” said Chowdhury. “We’re grateful to the ECB for organizing this series, which not only boosts our team’s readiness but also strengthens the cricketing relationship between our two boards.”
